Having to lock yourself in your bedroom during an extreme tic attack so you don’t hurt anyone or yourself is a feeling I wish I never had to fucking experience. I fucking hate this. Why does my brain have to work like this. Fuck.

I genuinely so scared and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to work again. I’m sobbing because I’m in so much pain. My tics last night caused me to disloacte my knee and I haven’t slept in like 3 days because they keep waking me up. I don’t know what to do.
I don’t see my new doctor until Wednesday but I can’t do this anymore. I don’t know how to make my brain feel better so it stops hurting me.
I don’t know what wrong with me. I’m so confused, and terrified, I can’t see half the time, I don’t think it’s safe for me to drive anymore. Whatever is wrong with me is genuinely ruining my life. I can’t barely even eat because I can’t stop moving to get food in my mouth, and the nerves in my stomach keep going off and making me vomit.
Every-time I’ve tried to speak today I can’t even finish a sentence before I lose my train of thought. I just want it to stop. I just wanna fucking normal! What did I do to deserve any of this?!? Why am I being punished, all I’ve ever wanted is for everyone to be happy!
I need a hug 😭 please!

Its honestly terrifying that I'm the one educating healthcare professionals on my medical condition. When I was hospitalised for my tics I was attended to by psychiatrists and asked questions about whether I was hearing voices and similar such things. To those who don't know Tourettes is a neurological condition, I should have seen neurologist rather than psychologists and psyciatrists. I was put on anti psychotics for months that ruined my mental health and did nothing to improve my tics. The wariness from this situation led to me refusing and hating medications for period of time, making situations far worse.
A psychiatrist diagnosed me with Tourettes. He was not qualified to do that, only a neurologist can diagnose Tourettes. When I went to see a neurologist who we were told specialised in tics Upon arrival, after months and months of waiting we were told:
oh yeah sorry this is too complex for me. I don't really know anything about tourettes.
I've been forced to educate myself because I just cannot trust doctors.
I've been told things from "oh everyone gets that" too you just need to sleep more, eat spinach, you're too stressed about school.
It's scary when the people who hold your life in their hands don't understand the basics of your medical condition.
My situation is better than most. I have been extremely privileged where my family could afford private health and the many treatments, specialists and medication I need to not suffer and be able to live my life. This is how bad it is for me, you can imagine how much worse it is for people who cannot access this healthcare. People who don't have the option to go to the hospital in case of emergency, people who can't afford to switch doctors until they find one that takes them seriously, people who can't afford medications.

I started reading Varney the Vampire, and I'm pretty sure that if the Dracula crew ever met him, they would instantly adopt him because he's such a sad wet cat of a man.
110% agree. @mayhemchicken-artblog has actually drawn a scene or two on the subject I believe 👀
#varney the vampire#is legitimately awful at vampireing#the Drac Attack Pack wouldn't be able to raise a stake to him without feeling bad about it#(especially when he spends a solid page's worth of detail trying and failing to get over a wall)#((by the time he gets up there Jonathan is already sitting at the top--no longer sharpening his kukri; just playing tic tac toe))#dracula

Excuse me, beautiful creature, but I have a big doubt. How could you help Tic or Tac if they are having an attack and starting to hurt themselves? (Like when Tac bites his lips or hands/arms)
ogh. this is rly sweet :'>
(tw: tics and self harm)
for the most part, it's not a big problem with Tic, n the most harmful thing Tac will do is bite, but here's a few things you could do:
hand them a pillow/something soft to put between themselves and their hands. make sure they're wearing their gloves, and Tac is wearing his muzzle if he's biting bad. or maybe hand him something/put something in his mouth to bite onto, and keep handing it back when/if he spits it out if he'll let you (the spitting it out being a tic most likely) maybe get a small blanket or something, to wrap around their hands/arms if you need too, but that's usually not necessary, least for Tic.
make sure their heads aren't against a wall or other hard surface, bc they might hit their head against it.
afterward, if they did hurt themselves, handing them something to heal (like a monster candy) would help (tho not likely that they would have shaved off any hp unless there was actually some self-hate behind the tic, but Tac will get this more often) and lots of cuddles. they are probably worn out n would appreciate it very much. uvu)
#tourette's#tic sans#tac sans#undertale#undertale au#didderd asks#un-cafecito-con-niel#tw tics#this stuff is a lot worse with th rice crispy crew#sometimes rice will put them (or himself) in a padded room to let out a tic attack lmao#if he has too he'll stop or lessen the guys attack with his 'demigod of negativity' abilities. but he avoids doing that#best for them to let it out#can't do that for himself tho :'>

"You know, the more I think about it, Tourette's is a proper super power"... "You can say literally anything you like and say it was a tic, fantastic!".
Yeah, it's funny until...
I tic a slur or something offensive or scary and it angers someone
I hurt myself
I hurt someone else
I can't carry out basic things like holding a drink, cooking, feeding myself...
I get muscle and joint pains from the repetitive motor tics
I sustain a long term injury
I freeze in the middle of the road with oncoming traffic
You can't go into a place because my tics are too loud or offensive
I have a tic attack
I become too exhausted to do anything
I can't do certain hobbies or activities, or I have to give up activities because my tics make them impossible to do
People tell you to 'shut up' and 'stop ticcing' because 'it's annoying' or 'what you're saying is rude'
You can't sleep because your tics won't give up
You can't stand for periods of time because your legs have been ruined by your tics
People stare at you
You get thrown out of a shop for being too loud or offensive
You're scared to go certain places
The list goes on.

Penelope Garcia x Tourettes daughter reader
This is my first Penelope Garcia, I love her she is my favourite along with Reid.
Disclaimer I don't have tourettes but a friend dose so I'm using them as an base for this oneshot.
This is a request!
Summary: Penelopes daughter has tourettes and has a tic attack at school, Penelope has to bring her to her work, Y/N ends up meeting the team.
Tourettes- Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a condition of the nervous system. TS causes people to have “tics”. Tics are sudden twitches, movements, or sounds that people do repeatedly. People who have tics cannot stop their body from doing these things. (For clarity if you don't know what tourettes are)
Tw - Tic attack
Third person pov...
Y/N Garcia had tourettes, she has had them for as long as she can remember, unlike other people who have Tourettes Y/N is lucky because she has a understanding mother who loves and helps her through her tic attacks.
When she doesn't have tic attacks her tourettes are more calm and aren't as painful. But when she has tic attacks her tics can cause her harm, she once bruised herself so badly her teachers were concerned.
But her Mum the amazing Penelope Garcia explained that her daughter has tourettes, the teachers understood and Y/N has a card thay she uses which explains she has tourettes and what to do during a tic attack.
Currently Y/N Garcia was in class, it was her third class sof the day and it was Drama, now Y/N hated drama, not because she had to perform, but because of the amount of anxiety she gets from it that triggers her to have a Tic Attack.
The teen tics had already been hard to stop but currently they were becoming even harder, her Mum always told her not to resist them and hold them in because it hurts her more. The teen curled in on herself as her tics become more violent because of how much stress she was feeling.
She tried to stand up and made it half way before her tics became a tic attack, her whole body twitched and moved suddenly her hands hitting the floor, her mouth making sounds she doesn't want to make, the teen pushed herself into a corner to avoid contact with the class.
She could feel their eyes on her, she knew she should off left he class knowing this was going to happen, she could hear whispers from her class and her friends calling her Mum as they had her number for times like this when she had a tic attack knowing the teen was always really tired and full off pain after a bad one.
Half an hour later her tics finally slowed down at her attack stopped, Y/N was able to over without hurting herself, the teen stands up with help from her friends who begin pulling her out of the classroom and to the nurses office knowing she will have bruises forming and cuts from her nails digging into her arms.
Once she got to the nurse she was taken to a bed and layed down, she was tired and in painand wanted her Mum. The teen cried softly wanting her mum to come pick her up ans take her home.
At Quantico FBI academy...
Penelope Garcia was in her Batcave helping the team find their Unsub halfba mile from Quantico when her phone went off, apologising to Hotch who was asking a question Penelope turned and answers the call not seeing the caller.
"Hello this is Queen of awesomeness speak and be spoken" she said cheerfully into the phone, her face then lost her smile when she heard the nurse at her daughters school tell her that her daughter had a tic attack in Drama and needed to be picked up form school. "Uh yes of course I'm on my way!" She exclaimed before turning back to the video call with Hotch.
She saw behind him that the other had gathered and were all looking at her worried after hearing the cheerfulness in her voice fade. "Everything okay Babygirl?" Asks Derek as Penelope is sat a sad look in her eyes.
This made the tech genius start and stand up quickly. "Y-yes my chocolate thunder Everything is okay I jsut have to go somewhere" she said standing up and grabbing her bag she said bye to everyone before ending the call and running quickly out of her Batcave.
Penelope then ran to her car and jumped into it and drove to her Daughters school, once she got there she ran to the reception and asked for Y/N Garcia and got a visitor badge, she then ran to the nurses office already knowing the way as she is called to it alot.
When she arrived she saw her Daughter and ran over to her, Penelope looked at her and held her daughters shaking hand. "Hey sweetie" she whispers to the girl, Y/N smiled at her Mum "Hey Mum" she said voice hoarse from the shouting she had done.
Penelope looks at her daughters bandaged arms and bruised face and gently stroked her cheek with her finger. Wiping away her tears as her daughter cried. "It's okay sweetie Mamas here, your okay" she whispers before comforting her daughter.
Once Y/N had calmed down Penelope helped her daughter up and began walking her out of the office and down to reception to sign her out, once she wa signed out Penelope walked to the car and helped Y/N get in and bu kled up before getting in herself.
"Ready to go hun" she said and Y/N smiled before sleeping off into a light sleep, whistling and snapping, Penelope smiled and started the car, she began driving back to the FBI academy, once they arrived Penelope helped her daughter out of the car and into the building.
Once they were in the Batcave, Penelope settled in her chair with her daughter who was taller than the tech analyst in her arms, Y/N was playing with a stress ball her Mum gave her as Penelope turned on her screens when she did she was faced with the Team who hadn't moved from when she abruptly left.
"Guys you waited" she said softly making the team look at her. Derek's voice is loud "Hey Baby girl Everything okay you jsut left to suddenly" he said making the other all look at their teammate.
Penelope smiles at them "don't worry um fine I jsut had to pick up my daughter from school she had a tic attack during class" she said making the team look closely, now only seeing the teen curled up on Penelopes lap.
"Daughter!" Exclaimed the majority of the group, this made Y/N turn her head to the screen and smile at them. "Hii" she said whistling and hitting the stress ball, the team waved at the teen.
"Guys this is Y/N Garcia my daughter" siad Penelope introducing her daughter to her family after years of keeping her away from her work.
The end!
Hope you liked this oneshot, as always sorry for the grammar and Spelling mistakes

Don't you dare think I don't see you, staring, laughing. I know I look odd, sitting on the floor, twitching and screeching. It hurts, you know? Holding in the tics, the tears of embarrassment. It hurts. But you don't know, do you? I will always just be a joke to you

Much of the time I find the way that we’re told to manage tics very much prioritises others rather than the person with tics.
Oftentimes it’s about how to make us more palatable to those who don’t have tics, whether that is being in good humour and allowing them to laugh at us regardless of whether we are comfortable with that, locking ourselves up at home so people don’t have to see something “icky”, putting ourselves in the constant discomfort of suppressing tics for no reason but the fact that other people are ignorant.
Justifying ableism as “well what do you expect going out and yelling swear words?”. When my tics first developed my parents threatened to never let me leave the house, go to school or see friends saying that I have to “think of others”. It is always seen as my responsibility to educate and jump through hoops to be treated with basic decency. People make it very clear that their few seconds of discomfort are priority over my entire life.

Its Tourette’s awareness month (may 15 - june 15) and migraine and headache awareness month (june). I have chronic migraine, headaches, and Tourette’s, so i’m gonna talk about all of them and having them together
Firstly, migraine is way different from headaches. Migraine is a neurological disorder that causes attacks of symptoms a common one and a very well known one is headache but it is not required. Headache is pain or discomfort in the head or face. Both can be severe and disabling but they are not the same but since the awareness month is for both this post will talk about both
Tourettes and migraine
- Tourette’s and migraine are both neurological disorders and have their similarities and differences. Similarities include (not everyone will experience and these) issues with moving, headache, certain psychological symptoms, ect. Differences include (not everyone will have these) hallucinations (migraine symptom), one sided weakness (migraine symptom), tics (Tourette symptom)
- migraine and Tourette’s can co occur in some people and i am one of them. For me Tourette’s and migraine can interfere with each other, worsening one and other and making things more difficult for me. My migraine symptoms often get worse when i move and Tourettes makes me move a lot, this can lead to increased pain, nausea and vomiting, and other symptoms. Some of my tics can also trigger my migraine attacks and some of the symptoms i have in both of them, like issues walking, can be very bad when both of those disorders are acting up.
Tourettes and headache
- Tourette’s and headache may co occur too and sometimes the tics may cause a headache. I’ve had tics where i hit my head with my hands or hit my head on something, this has caused me headaches or worsened what i already have.
